Transition to Adulthood Program

Transition to Employment Program

Our Transition to Employment Program offers past and present JMCC clients ages 18-30 the opportunity to develop important work-readiness skills and experience paid full-time summer employment.  The program consists of 4 virtual interactive sessions where adults with physical disabilities who are gainfully employment, share how they got started and offer tips on what has been helpful for them.  Valuable work skills such as problem-solving, conflict resolution, strategies to deal with stress and more are also discussed.  The virtual sessions begin in May and employment usually begins at the beginning of July and lasts 6-8 weeks.  Work locations include JMCC and community partner organizations.

Anyone interested in applying should send their resume to Carla Passador at Carla.passador@jmccentre.ca. Resumes must be received by March 31st.  For more information please call Carla at 519-252-7281 ext. 280.

Here is what some participants have to say about this program:

“I loved everything about this summer, the four employment sessions before the job actually started were very awesome, and as far as my job goes, I learned a lot about working in a customer service role, and I would do it again. It was also a new experience and everyday was different and more challenging than the day before, which was exciting. Thank you again for the opportunity to take part in this program.”

“It’s refreshing to know that people care and that they are going through and thinking the same things and that I am not alone.”
