Research

The John McGivney Children's Centre (JMCC) actively supports research that can improve the lives of children and youth with disabilities and their families. In partnership with community agencies, children's treatment centres and/or research centres, JMCC families and staff participate in research projects that have been approved by a Research Review Committee.  If you are interested in participating in a research project or would like to invite JMCC to participate in a research project, please contact research@jmccentre.ca.

Invitation and Review Process

We are involved in a number of research projects throughout the year.  We welcome and support participation in clinical research in the field of child and youth rehabilitation with the expectation that research will:
  • Be consistent with the Centre’s mission and values
  • Advance knowledge
  • Improve practice
  • Better the lives of children with disabilities and their families
  • Improve the quality of service and programs
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new programs
Requests for participation in research projects are received from a number of sources and must be submitted for consideration by a “Research Review Committee” consisting of relevant Centre staff and/or external consultants and/or other Empowered Kids CTCs.
