Help and Hope for Kids with Disabilities, their Families and Caregivers - donations to our Family Support Fund will be matched!
April 20, 2023
High inflation and housing costs are placing more pressures on many families of kids and youth with disabilities.
It's already 4X more expensive to raise a child with disability.
Families face many unexpected and out-of-pocket expenses. Equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers and braces are only partially covered by OHIP or by private insurance if they are lucky enough to have it. Families are struggling with the day-to-day costs of non-prescription items such as Tylenol, as well as incontinence products and specialized clothing. And because of the complexity of care needed, many parents need to limit the amount of time they work.
This in combination with increasing food and shelter costs means that many families are struggling even more to make ends meet.
Our John McGivney Children’s Centre Family Support Fund helps families apply for and receive much needed financial supports for their child in times of economic uncertainty.
Thanks to a very generous donor, for a limited time donations will be matched!
