Dr. Oper has served with us as Dental Director and Pediatric Dental Consultant for the Cleft Lip and Palate/Craniofacial Program at JMCC for an astounding 41 years. Dr. Oper will be retiring later this year.
A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, and an MS in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Michigan, his long and illustrious career includes an Oral Surgery Award, and Endodontic Award, a London and District Dental Society Award and he is the Recipient of Ontario Dental Association Award of Merit where he also served on its Board of Governors. Dr. Oper is also the former President of the Easlick Society for Graduates of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry Pediatric Dental Program.
It is evident how dedicated Dr. Oper is to his profession. And he has been dedicated to the many, many children he has served over his 41 years.
“As the clinic Coordinator, I have had the privilege of working with Dr. Oper during interdisciplinary team clinics, Dental Director meetings and working alongside him as members of the Operational Advisory Committee for the Provincial Cleft Lip and Palate/Craniofacial Dental Program. Tom's professionalism and dedication to this program is recognized and respected locally and provincially. Tom has been a valued pediatric dental consultant and director of our dental team of specialists for over 40 years. As a community pediatric dentist, Tom has treated many JMCC clients over the years with compassion and understanding and is well loved by the many families that he has helped. He not only remembers each child’s dental history but more importantly, he always recalls the families, and each child’s unique interests. I am honoured to recognize Tom for his impressive tenure with the John McGivney Children's centre and consider him both a trusted colleague and dear friend”. - Tonia Bryans.
Congratulations Dr. Oper on your retirement, and on behalf of all our children, families and staff we thank you for your dedication, your kindness, and your compassion. You will be truly missed by all.
