The John McGivney Children's Centre (JMCC) Friends of the Centre award was first introduced in June 2005 by the Board of Directors to recognize outstanding contributions by individuals and organizations that support the work of JMCC and positively impact the quality of life for children and youth with special needs and their families. After being retired for several years, the award was proudly resurrected in 2025 and is once again presented at the Annual General Meeting to honour exceptional community support and partnership.
PLEASE SELECT A YEAR:Mr. John Zangari, Board Member, was pleased to present the 2015 Friend of the Centre Award to Harvey and Elaine Snaden, owners of H & E Comfort Controls, who are wonderful supporters of the John McGivney Children’s Centre.
Their support of the Centre began in 2008 through the renovation and addition of our current building. Shortly after the construction project was completed, one of their employee’s children would begin to receive services at the Centre. By allowing this employee flexible hours to attend the Centre with their child as necessary, time to support the Centre with his expertise regarding our building, and time to support Centre programs in a variety of ways; Harvey and Elaine have continued to mentor the giving attitude and leadership that our community continues to enjoy. Harvey and Elaine, who through their company, H & E Comfort Controls, continue to support the Centre through advice on the building and its operation, and are a consistent supporter of community organizations such as The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County, Autism Ontario, Maryvale, Windsor Regional Hospital, Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, Rotary Club of Windsor Roseland and the University of Windsor, among many others. Harvey and Elaine exemplify the true meaning of the Friend of the Centre award.
Mr. Allan Cohen, Board Member, was honoured to present the 2015 Friends of the Centre Award to George King at the June 16, 2015 Annual General Meeting. Following years of dedication as a labour lawyer in our community, George was recently appointed a judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. George has lent his council wisdom and support to numerous organizations in our community including the John McGivney Children's Centre. He was Chair of the John McGivney Children’s Centre Capital Campaign along with Honourary Co-Chairs, Mr. Mike Soltz and the late Mr. John McGivney.
As a friend of the Centre, George continues to support and advocate for our Centre within the community, and for the children and families we serve.
