The John McGivney Children's Centre (JMCC) Friends of the Centre award was first introduced in June 2005 by the Board of Directors to recognize outstanding contributions by individuals and organizations that support the work of JMCC and positively impact the quality of life for children and youth with special needs and their families. After being retired for several years, the award was proudly resurrected in 2025 and is once again presented at the Annual General Meeting to honour exceptional community support and partnership.
PLEASE SELECT A YEAR:Dr. Gary Cooper has been a dedicated orthodontic consultant with the Maxillofacial-Speech Clinic for the last 23 years. As a consultant, Gary has provided assessment and treatment recommendations to individuals diagnosed with cleft lip and palate, craniofacial syndromes and severe dental conditions during monthly interdisciplinary team clinics. He has been an advocate for families, ensuring that they understood the complex dental treatment plans and that they were able to access funding for treatment.
On behalf of the staff and the children and families who attend the Centre, we thank Dr. Cooper for his dedication and kindness.
Mr. Max DeAngelis accepted the award on behalf of DeAngelis Construction Inc. and his crew who have gone over and above in providing the Centre with a beautiful efficient building for the children and their families and staff of the Centre. Their leadership team took a personal and vested interest in the Centre and the work that we do. We appreciate their many hours of service to the Centre, going above and beyond. For this we are most appreciative!
