Apply Now for the Empowered Kids Ontario Scholarship
Students enrolled or entering college, university, Indigenous Institute and career training programs can apply now for the Empowered Kids Ontario-Enfants Avenir Ontario (EKO) Scholarship.
The scholarships provide youth with disabilities financial support for tuition to help them reach their higher education and career training goals. Six scholarships of $2,500 each are available, including an exclusive award for self-identified Indigenous, First Nations and Metis students.
“Post-secondary education is an important element for achieving independence, yet people with disabilities are less likely to attend and complete post-secondary education than those without disabilities,” says Jennifer Churchill, EKO CEO. “Our hope is that EKO Scholarships help more students with disabilities achieve the life they want through post-secondary education.”
Since 2011, EKO has supported kids with disabilities pursuing education and career goals. EKO scholars’ interests include the health sciences, visual arts, performance, music, technology, sports, literature, journalism, law and so much more.
To apply for the EKO Scholarship, students must submit a completed application, a letter from an EKO member verifying that the applicant received services from their organization, two letters of recommendation, and a creative project or original essay describing why the EKO Scholarship is meaningful to them.
The deadline to submit applications is May 31, 2022 at 5 pm.
