Autism Services

What are Autism Services?

At JMCC, our Autism Services are here to help children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. We offer personalized support that is based on research and best practices. Our programs help build skills in areas like talking and communicating, making friends, handling emotions, and becoming more independent.

We work with families in different ways—like one-on-one sessions, group programs, and family training—so each child gets the support that’s right for them. Our goal is to help every child grow and succeed at home, at school, and in the community.

JMCC works in partnership with Connections Early Years Family Centre, Children First and TVCC to offer a wide variety of programs and services.  To find out if you qualify for these programs, please inquire through AccessOAP or through the Ontario Autism Program.

How We Help: Entry to School Program

The Entry to School Program is a free program for children with autism who are starting kindergarten or Grade 1 for the first time. It is part of the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) and is funded by the government.

To find out if your child can join, families must go through AccessOAP.

What is the Entry to School Program?

Staring Starting school can be a big change—for both kids and parents. Our Entry to School Program helps children get ready for school and feel more confident about this exciting step.

The program has two parts:

Part 1: Group Learning

Children join a small group to practice important skills like:

Part 2: Transition Help

Once your child starts school, we offer extra support during the first six months. We can:

  • Work with your child’s teacher.

  • Give advice to parents and schools.

  • Help with the move from the program into the classroom.
