Assistance for Food

The Food Co-op Program
This service provides a nutritional, dignified, cost effective alternative to food banks for low income individuals and families in Windsor and Essex County. Typically, payment is made on the first Friday of the month and food is available for pick up on the third Friday of the month. Cost is determined by the size of the family; cost starts at $30.00 and is increased by $5.00 per family member. The value of the food received is approximately $60.00 and may consist of meats, eggs, bread, fresh vegetables and fruit, and non-perishable items pending availability. Members agree not to use food banks during the time they are involved in the Co-op unless in the case of an extreme emergency.
